In Need of a GNO

by Lori 31. July 2010 05:04

I absolutely adore my family, but there are times that I need, no I CRAVE some time away. It isn't anything personal, I just have to have a little adult time away. I can feel when things get a little stressful and it has been awhile since I have seen my friends that I am in need of a GNO. Girls' Night Out.

Girls' night out is not what it used to be. Back in the day before husbands and kids, we would head to the bars and dance all night long. We would stay out late and pay for it the next morning. Ahhhh...those were the days....

Time spent with friends isn't quite like that anymore. We will go out for drinks (we're not THAT old, you know?) and instead sit and talk and talk and talk. We do not see each other nearly enough and there is always so much to catch up on. Since so many of us have kids, we truly appreciate the adult conversation. There have been times that girl's night out results in a very late night because with such good conversation, we can completely lose track of time. One night, I sat across from a friend chatting away until we realized we had been talking for 7 hours!

My husband is fascinated by this because he cannot understand what we can talk about for that length of time. In fact, when he asked me what we talked about, I thought for a moment and replied, "Lots of stuff, but I can't think of anything in particular."

So, I am in need of a GNO - but before I plan anything, I better block off a lot of time. There is A LOT to talk about.

Site Traffic Declines for Earth Hour—Time to Celebrate! (What?)

by jobrien 13. April 2010 09:05

Tjoos.com wants to thank our fellow bargain lovers, sale sleuths, and cost-conscious shoppers for being part of the hugely successful Earth Hour 2010. We are excited to report that traffic for the site decreased 17% on March 27, 8:30pm local time. Earth Hour was created to raise awareness about climate change and while normally we might not go around touting a lower number of shoppers, this seems like the perfect time to celebrate exactly that: we are proud to call our shoppers Internet-savvy and Earth-conscious! Fewer users during Earth Hour equal less power consumption and that’s Earth Hour’s goal… now get back to shopping (you can always use your rechargeable laptop battery)!

So to keep up the momentum (and with the 40th anniversary of Earth Day quickly approaching on April 22), Tjoos.com has decided to unveil a new “Earth Day” section on the site so shoppers can support companies that also value the environment and sustainability. Earth Hour and Earth Day are all about working together to create change—and online shoppers can make a big impact on the global economy by committing to support environmentally-conscious businesses. So how about it?  We’ll set it up and all you have to do is click (we’ll let you decide whether to keep the lights on or off).

Also, we’d like to know how you participated in Earth Hour. Share your story with us and let’s continue the conversation.
